Tummy Trouble Tips

Priceless Shortcuts to:

A. End Nausea in 5 Minutes

B. Stop Dehydration Symptoms in under 30 minutes

C. End Diarrhea in 15 Minutes

D. Solve Constipation within an Hour

A. End Nausea in 5 Minutes

This works very well for pregnancy sickness - I don’t call it morning sickness as can happen 24/7 for several months for many women! It also works for people of all ages who don’t want to take a motion sickness pill or suffer needlessly!

Solutions:

1) Eat a few salted plain crackers and drink some water (or any other type of CLEAR beverage, other than coffee as it leads to more dehydration).

2) Eat a Baked Potato

-Wash well, poke a fork at least 1/3 of the way into the potato in 2 or 3 spots on each side and both ends, pat dry with paper towel, put potato on a fresh folded paper towel square on a microwave safe plate and cook on high for 3-6 minutes depending on potato size.

-About halfway through cooking time, stop process, open door and using an oven mitt if needed turn potato over on paper towel and finish cooking. This makes for a crunchy thick crust like as if it was slow-baked in the oven.

-Using an oven mitt, pickup the potato and gently squeeze to see if done--if it doesn’t have any 'give' it needs another 1-3 minutes depending on size but overcooking will make it rock hard too.

-Once done, cut it open and put a little bit of salt on top (salt helps balance your electrolytes and a small amount every day helps our brain and body to function properly).

-You can add some margarine or butter, as it adds in some fat and makes the potato easier to eat, but it is not necessary.

-Enjoy it and eat the skin/crust as well as it has the most nutrients anyway and is very tasty as well as adds roughage that you need.

3) Have a glass of Sprite, 7Up, Ginger ale, etc if you can tolerate it or plain tea with a teaspoon of sugar and a teaspoon of lemon or lime juice

B. Stop Dehydration Symptoms Fast

As I travel I meet people who are nowhere near taking in what they normally do at home for fluids despite being in extreme heat, and many have felt literally sick from the heat, lack of enough fluids and even not eating properly. Any or all of these scenarios can leads to nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and just being plain old irritable at times. No matter where you are or what you are doing, a variety of fluids is necessary at all times to keep you moving and functioning properly as the human body is mostly water anyway!

Solutions:

1) Clamato Juice -- the actual brand name juice. A single serving size is about a 493ml bottle (if you can buy and store a large bottle in the fridge it is cheaper in volume) and you will feel better within about 10 minutes.

2) Gatorade works awesomely, costs about $1.50-$2US equivalent for the single serving size bottle and I have had no trouble finding it in over 9 countries so far.

-Half a bottle every day (or every other day depending on your situation) is good to help with maintenance of fluids.

-I also drink Powerade or Vitamin Water now and then as both have other benefits but they are high in other things too, so check labels if you have dietary issues.

3) Mix 100% pure orange juice (or any kind you prefer with no sugar added) with Sprite, 7UP, Ginger ale, etc in equal amounts.

-It refreshingly lightens the juice consistency and adds the carbonation bubbles that help keep things moving too.

-If you really want to clean out your kidneys as well use 100% pure cranberry JUICE (not cocktail as that has sugar and other items added) and add Sprite, etc as directed.

4) **Don’t use diet pop or you are defeating the purpose as there are chemical artificial sweeteners added in all diet foods that actually do damage to your kidneys especially.

-If when you have to 'go'--you have to go NOW...chances are you are eating waaayyyyy too many artificial sweeteners, which hide in many foods.

-Switching back to real sugar as it is only 16 calories per teaspoon of white sugar is much less harmful to your body, except in cases of diabetes and other medical conditions that require very limited amounts of any foods.

- I have many severe intolerances that border on allergies myself, so I understand the issues all too well. Reading labels will save you unexpected reactions and resultant additional health issues. Speak to your medical professional-obviously-for all medical information. This is only info on techniques that work for some, but you need to use common sense when it comes to your health!

-The reduced fat/salt/sugar/etc diet or healthy foods work the same way. Removing/reducing one ingredient necessitates adjustments/increases of other ingredients to keep it edible. Many times, it is healthier to eat the regular version.

-Check the nutrition label on all foods so that a quick comparison between your usual brand and what’s on sale will tell you which the better deal is really health-wise due to added ingredients.

-As an example, some brands of potato chips use yeast extract and soy protein in their flavorings!

-If you have allergies of any kind, this is helpful for all products as shampoo, all kinds of soaps, make-up, toothpaste, deodorant and lotions use common allergens such as gluten, soy and/or lactose for thickening.

5) Step up your plain tap water intake for a few days to flush it all out and that feeling will go away shortly. Sweeteners cause the bladder to contract continually instead of just when it is full, so it overworks the bladder wall muscles, which can to lead to urinary incontinence in both men and women.

-**There are helpful additives in most tap water such as fluoride in tiny amounts that are required by the body to function properly.

-If you don’t drink tap water, make sure you are getting your fluoride and trace minerals from a food source or vitamins to maintain a healthy body and mind.

-These minerals are added to tap water for decades now in many countries, as people didn’t get enough essential minerals so many got very sick or died needlessly.

C. End Diarrhea in 15 Minutes

This is especially helpful for kids of all ages (as long as they are old enough to eat mashed fruit) and everyone else who gets any kind of stomach bug with diarrhea as that usually also leads to dehydration and messed up electrolytes.

You can buy Pedialyte or energy drinks like Powerade, but they have many other things you don’t need, are very expensive over the long run and many times hard to get/keep down due to the aftertaste.

Solutions:

1) Eat a banana! If you don’t like bananas or can’t even look at food without feeling more nauseated then peel a few, push a popsicle stick in one end of each one (this is more for the kids), pop them in the freezer for an hour or more and instantly--banana popsicles!

-They are soothing, a cold treat and medicine all rolled into one--and let’s face it, when you feel like crap--who doesn’t want a popsicle?   There is no chewing involved either, which can generate more gastric acid to keep moving things along too fast at times.

-Usually diarrhea goes hand in hand with nausea so using this tip and adding some crackers and fluids works great to slow the flow within about 15 minutes.

2) Prevention: Eat half a banana a day regularly to help keep things moving as well as to help balance your vitamins and minerals as they are loaded in potassium too!

-Once you are interested in eating again, there is a variety of ways to get bananas into your diet, improving and maintaining your health in many ways such as:

-Slice it into your cereal

-Blend it in a protein shake

-Have a popsicle

-Make a breakfast/brunch/lunch/anytime extremely healthy and very filling mini meal using:

-1/2 a banana cut up; 2/3 cup Greek Activia yogurt; 1/4 cup nuts (your choice, raw/unsalted preferred); 1/3 cup cereal (gluten/soy/lactose free options do exist but not many); 1 Tablespoon Hemp/Flax/Chia seeds and 1 Tablespoon coconut. Alternatively, use the banana (add in other fruits as well), yogurt, hemp/flax/chia seeds and add pre-made granola or make your own ahead of time and freeze in baggies to keep fresh.

D. Solve Constipation Within a Few Hours

Again usually these symptoms all show up together to have a big party in your body and it makes you want to take yourself out back and get a bit slap happy over your own attitude at times, but some simple tips and extremely cheap items will fix most of what ails you!

Constipation is a term used to describe hard stools due to a lack of enough fluids and roughage to keep things moveable in the first place (or certain medications, foods and other situations also can cause it). It is often used as a general term to describe a complete lack of movement at all by many people!

Solutions:

1) The fastest, cheapest, most natural way is to drink 100% pure prune juice.

-There are several kinds so check the nutrient labels as some have 90% iron and some only 15% - mostly water in other words - so go with the high iron content because the more pure it is, the less you need to drink.

-Chill well in the fridge for a few hours or pour it over ice, as it is easier to get/keep down cold than warm let me tell you!

-It is very thick, so either add very cold water to dilute the intense sweetness and thickness of the nectar and end up drinking twice as much of the same flavor, or chug it down a few swallows at a time along with a cup of room temperature/warm water, alternating between the two and finishing both.

-Drink about a cup and a half (about 375 ml) and a full cup (250 ml) of water along with it.

-Stay near a bathroom and have lots of TP handy as this works very well to sort of liquefy things, often within 30-60 minutes I have found personally and it is totally natural!

-Continue to drink more water and several other types of clear fluids over the next several hours as well to rebalance your body.

-I haven’t actually tried it, but I would assume you can make popsicles with prune juice just like you would with any other type of juice for kids of all ages who simply can’t tolerate the consistency or intense taste but don’t want to take medication or supplements which can harm your bowels in the long run.

-Fill small containers (or popsicle trays and sticks), fill with juice, place sticks in and freeze. It will cut out having to drink it and the cold is soothing when you don’t feel well as it is!

2) Warm up and eat a can (or 2 depending on severity of constipation) of brown beans - also called pork and beans - and add 1Tablespoon of olive/sesame/coconut/etc oil, garlic; peppers; onions and spices such as turmeric which is excellent for digestion and metabolism.

-Add in some cooked hamburger, tomato sauce/paste, brown sugar, celery, etc and make a big pot of chili. Portion it out once cold into baggies or containers, freeze and then re-heat in the microwave on power 7 for 2-3 minutes while making a salad to go with it and dinner is served within 5 minutes-fresh, hot, no additives, portioned out, and almost NO dishes afterwards!

-All the fibre from the beans and the oil helps to move things along as well as causes gas, which also pushes everything 'down the pike' so to speak.

3) Drink lots of fluids--again just water is not sufficient in any way.

-Milk based fluids can tend to irritate the whole digestive system when you are not feeling good from creating extra mucus when you have a cold already anyway, to causing cramping and diarrhea when you are already sick; so it is best to avoid too much dairy when not feeling good.

-Normally though you want 2 to 3 cups of either 2% cow’s milk or Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk (gluten/soy/lactose free) a day to get your required calcium, vitamin D, etc.

-I dilute it with half water so it is not so thick and goes farther.

4) Eat a salad as a meal twice a day for a few days in a row

-Ideally use romaine or some healthy green type of lettuce but iceberg works just as well.

-Shred/Cube a 1 ounce serving of hard cheese, a handful of nuts (your choice but raw/unsalted), a handful of currants/cranberries/etc.

-Add a serving of cooked meat (hamburger, chopped chicken, tuna, pork, etc) along with 2 capfuls of lemon or lime juice and a small amount of dressing (use your favorites).

-I usually add in about 2 tablespoons of hemp/chia/flax seed to boost the fibre content and really get things moving quicker!

-Normally, a salad a day will help to keep things moving, is good roughage and most greens have a high water content as well.

 5) Relax and stop worrying about what you are missing at that moment while feeling sick, as you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it anyway.

-Go to bed or relax on the sofa with your feet up and just rest.

-Watch some laugh out loud comedy and get a real belly workout! It is said that 30 minutes of snort coffee out your nose type of unexpected and real laughter exercises your abdomen as well as your lungs and cardiovascular system just as good as a 60 minute power walk.

-Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!

-Get up and dance around to your favorite bouncy type of music and sing your heart out (decide to be comfortable enough to not care what other people think as they can’t solve your issues anyway so who cares what they think) and 'shake your booty' enough to get things moving as well!

-Or go for a good power walk, swim, whatever type of exercise you like to do and adding in your favorite type of music to keep up a steady beat while you exercise helps too.

6) Have a very warm bath with 1-2 cups (250-500 mg) of baking soda for about 20 minutes

-Try to lie down in the water so that your stomach and back are soaking and if you can’t do that, then lie on one side for 10 minutes and roll over to the other side for another 10 minutes so that your entire back and stomach get a good soaking.

-The baking soda works by reverse osmosis and helps to relax the muscles as well as pull enough water from your body to move things along, usually within an hour or so after your bath.

-**This is especially helpful for babies and small children who don’t want to eat or drink anything but are in discomfort and you want to avoid medications and strong laxatives, etc.

I hope this helps you and those you know and love in some way, may you soon find what makes YOU happy in YOUR life and have an awesome day! NEVER GIVE UP!
